Happy Hip-Hop History Month! As we celebrate the genre and its community, let us revisit the early August proclamation that set all of this in motion. Things to be happy about? According to a tweet issued by the Senate Periodicals’ Twitter account on Thursday, the vote to proclaim November as Hip-Hop History Month was passed with unanimous consent. 

In August of 2021, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a resolution designating Hip-Hop Celebration Day, Hip-Hop Recognition Month and Hip-Hop History Month.

According to the U.S. Senate’s Press Gallery, S. Res. 331 officially designates:
August 11, 2021 as Hip-Hop Celebration Day, 
August 2021 as Hip-Hop Recognition Month,
and November 2021 as Hip-Hop History Month.
